Went to a retro TV museum and saw a working 1984 cable box
Stopped by the MZTV Museum in Toronto last weekend and they had a fully working Jerrold cable converter box from 1984 on display. You could actually flip the channel knob and watch it scan through the static. It took me straight back to my grandma's living room, where that box sat on top of the console TV with a piece of tape over the channel dial so nobody would mess with it. The weird part was seeing the old HBO and MTV logos in the channel guide they had laminated next to it. I forgot how you had to get up to change channels, no remote unless you paid extra. Has anyone else seen an old cable box in a museum or just held onto one from back in the day?

Remember my buddy Dave finding his old dad's cable box in the garage last summer, still wrapped in a plastic bag. He plugged it in for kicks and the damn thing actually powered up, static and all, but the channel knob was so stiff he had to use pliers. He left it on the curb two days later because his wife said it was just a dust magnet.
