A customer dropped a Rolleiflex on my bench in Tulsa and it flipped how I handle every repair now
I was at my bench in Tulsa last month when a guy walked in with a Rolleiflex TLR he said his dad bought in 1958. He dropped it right in front of me, and the film door popped open with a spring I had never seen inside one of those before. That one moment made me start doing a full function check on every camera before I even touch a screwdriver. Now I spend the first 10 minutes just dry firing the shutter, checking speeds with my tester, and feeling how the advance lever moves. Last week that habit caught a bent linkage on a customer's Nikon F2 that would have cost me two extra hours if I had found it later. My average turnaround went from 9 days to 7 just from that one change. Anyone else do a full check before teardown, or do you jump straight into the screws like I used to?
