Changed my mind about cleaning shutter blades after a job in Seattle

I was fixing a Pentax K1000 for a client up there, and I used my usual method with a soft brush. The owner, an older guy who used to work at a camera factory, watched me and said, 'You'll just push the dust into the bearings.' He showed me his trick with a piece of drafting tape folded sticky-side out to lift the dust off instead. I tried it and it worked way better, no grit left behind. Anyone else have a better way to clean those tiny blades without taking the whole assembly apart?

I used to brush them too, but that tape trick is a game changer.

Yeah same here lol, always thought brushing was the only way until I tried the tape.

Game changer" is right, but it took me way too long to realize you're supposed to floss before you brush, not after. I always did it the other way and wondered why my gums still felt kinda gross. Once I switched to tape and started flossing first, the toothpaste actually gets between my teeth and does its job. Now brushing feels like the finishing step instead of the main event. It's wild how much of a difference the order makes.
