Oiled my shutter blades with a sewing machine lubricant, actually fixed the sticky issue

Everyone told me to only use branded camera oil or send it out, but after getting quoted $95 from a shop in Chicago I figured what's the worst that could happen. Took the lens apart on a Sunday night, put one tiny drop of Tri-Flow on each of the 5 blades, worked them open and shut maybe 20 times. Sticking stopped completely and it's been smooth for 3 months now. Anyone else used non-standard lubes and gotten away with it, or am I just lucky so far?
