Old Canon FD lens went from cloudy to clear after a 3 day soak
Picked up a 50mm f/1.8 at a garage sale in Salem for $15, front element looked like a frosted window. Tried regular cleaning fluid twice, no luck. Figured the haze was from old grease or smoke film, so I unscrewed the front ring and left just the glass in a tiny dish of dish soap and warm water for 3 days. Rinsed it, dried it with a blower, and the difference is night and day, sharp enough for portraits now. Anyone else tried long soaks on coated elements, or is this a panic move that works once and then you learn the hard way?
