Update: I keep seeing techs over-tighten the screws on Minolta X-700 bottom plates.
They strip the soft brass inserts every time, and I've had to helicoil three this month. What's your go-to torque for those tiny plate screws?

Yeah, the bottom plate ones are a nightmare. I just use my smallest driver and stop the second I feel any real resistance. If I'm not sure, I back it off a quarter turn. It's way better to have a plate that's a tiny bit loose than to fight a stripped insert later. I keep a jar of those specific screws now because I've had to fix so many cameras where the last guy just cranked them down.

It's actually the top plate screws that are the real problem on those. They thread into the film door hinge, which is even softer. A tiny screwdriver and just a bit of snugness is all you need.
