A wet camping trip taught me to read between the review lines
I was camping with friends when it started pouring. One guy's tent completely soaked through. He had picked it because of top ratings online. Turns out, he skipped over the part about light use only. We had a chuckle, but it made me question review trust.

Always check the one star reviews first now, they show you the real weak points. My buddy bought a rain jacket that looked great in the ads, but the one stars all said the seams leaked in a downpour. Saved myself from buying the same one. You learn to spot the repeating complaints that get buried in all the positive stuff.

Totally agree with checking the low ratings first. It reminds me of this wireless phone charger I almost bought. The pictures looked sleek and all the top reviews said it was fast, but man, the one stars had people posting videos of their phones just sliding right off the dang pad. @lee_carr53 has a point about recent reviews too, because sometimes a product changes and the old good reviews don't matter anymore. You really have to dig to see what keeps going wrong for people after they've used something for a while. That charger looked perfect until you saw those videos, then it was a total deal breaker.

Oh man, I feel this. Bought a backpack with amazing reviews once, but then saw a photo deep in the user pics showing a ripped strap. Started always sorting reviews by "most recent" and actually looking at the 3-star ones. They usually tell you the real deal, good and bad. Saved me from a few duds.
