Spent 6 months cold emailing 200 companies, then walked into 3 shops in person and got hired in a week
After graduating last spring I sent out around 200 cold emails to marketing agencies in Chicago and got 4 replies, all no's. My roommate bet me $50 I couldn't get an interview by just walking into offices, so I printed 15 resumes and hit the Loop on a Tuesday. Three places actually talked to me, and the second one, a small shop on Wacker, hired me part time starting that Friday. Turns out the guy who runs it said he gets 30 emails a day but maybe one person a month walks in. Has anyone else had way better luck showing up in person than applying online?
