Unpopular opinion: my old boss in Savannah told me to stop going to networking events and it finally clicked
I ran into Dana, my old manager from a logistics company in Savannah, at a Panera off Abercorn Street about 3 weeks ago. She said she stopped handing out her card at mixers and started sending 5 short follow up emails a week to people she actually liked talking to. I blew it off at first, but I tried it for 2 weeks and got 2 coffee chats and one real job lead out of it, way more than the last 6 events I went to combined. Anyone else ditch the event grind for just following up with people one on one?
