Rant: Career fair guy at UT Arlington pushed a $9,000 coding bootcamp on my cousin and I had to step in
Went with my cousin to a job fair at UT Arlington two weeks ago and some recruiter in a polo was telling kids the bootcamp "pays for itself in 6 months" with zero numbers to back it up. My cousin almost signed a loan on the spot, so I pulled her aside and we looked up the actual grad job stats on our phones. Turns out the placement rate on their own site was under 60 percent, and she would have owed $9,000 before landing a single interview. Anyone else dealing with family members getting pressured at these events, and how do you talk them out of it without sounding like a jerk?
