Dropped $600 on a resume writer who just reformatted mine

Back in March I paid $600 to this career coach in Austin who promised to get me interviews within a month. She asked me a few questions over email, sent back a two page resume that was basically my old one with better fonts and fancier bullet points. The keywords she added were so generic that I got zero callbacks, not even from my own industry. I took it to a friend who hires engineers and she said the grammar was fine but the content said nothing about actual results or projects. I could have spent that money on a certification or even a mock interview service that actually critiques your answers. Has anyone else burned cash on these premium resume packages and found a cheaper alternative that actually works? I feel like the whole industry is just preying on people who are already stressed about job hunting.
