Don't be me: lost $300 on a fancy new router bit set

Saw a set of 15 carbide bits online for $300, thought it was a steal. Turned out they were cheap knockoffs from some random seller, chipped on the third cut through oak. Total waste of money and time, could've just gotten a few good bits from Whiteside instead. Has anyone else fallen for those too-good-to-be-true deals on bits?

Saw a YouTube video where a guy tested cheap router bits and he said the same thing, they just don't last. I think a lot of folks figure carbide is carbide, but the quality of the grinding and the coating really matters. You probably saved me from making the same mistake, so thanks for posting this. I've been looking at a set of router bits myself and now I'll stick with a couple good ones rather than a whole cheap set.

Bought a 20 piece set off Amazon once for like 30 bucks. First bit I used, the bearing seized up halfway through a cut and left this nasty burn mark on the project. Honestly learned my lesson real fast. Ngl half of them are still in the case collecting dust because I'm too scared to even try em.
