Guy at the lumber yard in Fresno said he quit buying pre-cut studs because the returns eat the savings
He told me he saves about $180 a month cutting his own but loses an hour of shop time, and I am still trying to figure out which side of that trade I land on.

The returns eat the savings" got me too, I used to just buy pre-cut.
