Joist hanger nails flew out on a Reno in Denver, now I sort every box before I start

I was framing a deck addition last month and a whole handful of those coated nails had rusted thin, three let go on the first hammering so I had to pull and redo a corner. Anyone else checking nail stock from every new batch before trusting it on a load-bearing spot?

Ever notice how everything from screws to zip ties comes out cheaper and crappier than it did five years ago, like we're all just sorting through garbage to find the few pieces that actually hold? Makes you wonder if buying in bulk is even worth it anymore when half the batch is a gamble.
