Saw a framer at a site in Denver nail his top plate straight through the drywall backing, and I had to walk away
Was subbing on a two story in Denver last week and watched a guy run his top plates 3 inches past the corner. That left the ends hanging in open air instead of tying into the intersecting wall. Then he shot 16s down through a plate that had nothing solid under it, so the whole corner was basically floating. I told the GC and he just shrugged and said the drywall would hide it. That corner is going to pop every winter when the trusses move. Am I wrong to push back on this, or do some of you just let it go and collect the check?
