My band saw blade snapped mid-cut on a 40-day dry-aged ribeye yesterday

Ugh, that unplugging instinct is so real. I've gotten so paranoid that I'll actually just stand there and stare at the outlet for a minute to be sure, my heart still pounding. It turns a simple tool failure into a full-on safety ritual before I even assess the damage.

Just walked through a newly renovated office building in Charlotte and saw the fire alarm wiring run parallel with the 480V feeder cables in the same tray.

Wait, they ran the fire alarm wiring right next to the 480V feeders in the same tray... that's crazy. The whole point of the separation is so a fault on the power line doesn't fry the alarm system. You'd lose both at the same time in a real emergency. How did that even pass a rough-in inspection?

PSA: I used to buy my wife flowers for our anniversary, now I get her a gift card for a local nursery.

Miss the whole point of a gift. A bouquet is a beautiful, complete thought you picked out yourself. It shows you noticed what she likes and put in the effort. Handing someone a card feels lazy, like you couldn't be bothered to choose. The flowers might die, but the memory of you bringing them home, all proud, that lasts. A gift card just turns a special day into a shopping trip.
