The one thing nobody tells you about hatch patterns in a floor plan

I was laying out a bathroom remodel last week and kept seeing these awful jagged lines where my tile pattern met the wall. Spent two hours zoomed in trying to fix it before I realized I had my scale set wrong in the plot settings. The pattern was set to 1:1 instead of matching my viewport scale. Has anyone else lost time to this or am I the only one who overlooks the annotation scale?

Can we talk about choosing between a password manager and writing things down?

I spent a whole weekend going back and forth on this. My brother got hacked bad last month through a reused password, so I knew I had to change something. I picked Bitwarden because it was free and open source, but the first week I kept locking myself out of my own accounts cause I forgot the master password. Has anyone else dealt with that panic of not knowing if you can get back into your own stuff?

Tried using ATF in my diesel fuel like the old guys swear by

Ngl, I figured it was just another old mechanic myth and kept using standard additives. Last month I got curious and dumped a quart of ATF into my F-250's tank right before a 400 mile trip to Flagstaff. Truck actually ran quieter and my cold starts the next week were noticeably smoother. I still think it's a bit sketchy but the results surprised me enough that I'm gonna try it once more and see if it's consistent. Has anyone else here actually run a fuel filter inspection after doing this?

A waistband twist on a bridesmaid dress made me ditch symmetrical seaming for good

I was at my cousin's wedding in Austin last month and after three hours of dancing I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw the whole left side of the skirt pulled crooked because the seams fought each other, so I ripped it apart the next day and rebuilt it with a single off-center panel that actually follows the body's natural curve, has anyone else hit a point where you just accept asymmetry works better?

TIL: Stop overfilling your mud pans when you're on stilts

I watched a guy on my crew last Tuesday dump a whole quart of mud down his leg because he had the pan stacked to the brim. He was up on stilts reaching for a corner and it just sloshed over. Took him 20 minutes to clean up and he still had to change pants. If you're working overhead or on stilts, keep that pan half full max. It saves you time and a mess. Am I the only one who learned this the hard way?

Wasted $150 on a first print that turned out to be a reprint

Bought what I thought was a first print of The Walking Dead #1 at a convention in Portland. Paid $150 cash to some guy in a sketchy booth. Got home and checked the barcode on the back, it was a 2010 reprint. Felt like a real idiot. Anyone else get burned by fake first prints at cons?

Tried resting my brisket for 3 hours instead of 1 and wow what a difference

I've always let my brisket rest for maybe an hour wrapped in foil on the counter. Last weekend I had some extra time before dinner so I let it go for a full 3 hours. Threw it in a dry cooler wrapped in towels after the 1 hour mark just to keep it warm. When I sliced into it the meat was way more tender and the juices didn't just pour out everywhere like usual. The temp dropped to about 140 still and it was perfect to eat. Anyone else tried resting way longer than normal and gotten better results?

Caught a BBQ pitmaster on YouTube using a wet paper towel to fix a stall

Saw Harry Soo explain on a livestream that wrapping in butcher paper costs more and doesn't speed things up nearly as much as spritzing every 45 minutes with apple cider vinegar, and it made me ditch the Texas crutch for good after 6 years of using it, anyone else skip the wrap now?

Saw a wild setup at a job site in Phoenix last month

I was driving past a new hospital construction site off the 10 freeway and had to pull over. They had a massive crawler crane, looked like a Liebherr LR 11000, lifting these giant prefab concrete panels. What got me was the rigging. Instead of the usual four-point spreader bar, they had this custom six-point setup with synthetic slings on each corner and two more in the middle. The lift itself was smooth, but I've never seen that many attachment points on a panel that size, maybe 30 feet by 15. The signaler was using hand signals I didn't fully recognize either, looked like some company-specific system. It made me wonder if they were dealing with a known weakness in the panels or just being extra careful. Has anyone else run into a six-point rig for a slab lift, or know what those extra signals might mean?

Our book club picked 'Moby-Dick' and the meeting turned into a fight about the whale

We were at the local coffee shop last month, and one guy kept saying the whale was just a whale, nothing more. Another member got so mad she said he was 'missing the entire point of literature.' It got so loud the barista had to ask us to keep it down. Has anyone else had a book club debate go completely off the rails like that?
