Finished a huge job in Phoenix and the client tipped me $200

Last week I put down over 2,000 square feet of that dense commercial loop pile in a new office building downtown. It was just me and my helper, and we got it done in two long days. The property manager handed me the extra cash and said he hadn't seen seams that clean in a long time. What's the biggest tip you've ever gotten on a job?

Honestly, that just sounds like a guilt tip to me. A property manager for a big downtown building could have just paid you a higher rate from the start. A cash tip is a nice gesture, but it doesn't fix the real problem of contractors getting low-balled on the initial bid. That two hundred bucks is a drop in the bucket compared to what that company is making on that lease. They should be paying for quality work in the contract, not with after-thought cash.

Man, that's a solid tip for sure. Did it feel good to get that kind of recognition for the hard work? My biggest was a $150 cash envelope left on a kitchen counter after I did a full deep clean on a really rough move-out. The place was a disaster and they just wrote "thank you" on it. That kind of thing makes the long days worth it.
