Grocery store cashier showed me her 88 cent meal trick and I still use it

Last Tuesday this older woman behind me in line at the Aldi on Main Street saw me staring at the price of peppers and told me she makes a full soup with lentils, frozen spinach, and a bouillon cube for under a dollar... she even wrote the ratio on my receipt. Has anyone else gotten a random money saving hack from a stranger that actually stuck around?

Bouillon cube ratio written on a receipt? That's dedication right there. I'd have lost that paper before I got to the car, let alone made it home. Lentils and frozen spinach for under a buck sounds like pure nonsense until you actually do the math on it. My wife tried something similar once and it fed us for three days. I'm more impressed she took the time to write out the ratio, most people just say "add some of this" and walk away.
