My aunt swore buying day-old bread saved us $60 a month, she was right but the real trick is freezing it the same day
Aunt Carol told me to hit the bakery outlet before 7 AM every Tuesday, I did it for 3 months and we ate garlic bread and french toast all week plus saved enough to buy a bag of frozen veggies each trip, but does anyone else have trouble with the crust getting soggy if you wait too long to freeze it?
Oh wow, the crust thing might actually be about steam getting trapped. If you wrap the loaf tight while it's still a little warm, that moisture just sits there and turns the outside soft, so letting it cool all the way first could fix it. Also worth trying is tossing it in the freezer the second you get home from the outlet, not later that night.
