My pressure cooker seal split right before I was about to cook a big pot of beans.
It happened Tuesday evening, right as I was getting dinner ready. The rubber ring had a clean tear, so it wouldn't hold pressure at all. I didn't want to buy a new seal right then, so I just cooked the beans in the pot without the lid locked, like a regular pot. It took about two hours on a low simmer instead of 45 minutes, but they turned out fine. Anyone know a good place to get a cheap replacement gasket that won't fail in six months?

Amazon's third-party seals work fine for me.

Wait, why are we all just accepting that the official parts are always better? I've had the exact opposite happen, where the pricey brand name seal cracked way faster than the cheap one I got online. Sometimes you're just paying for the logo, not better rubber. My generic one has been going strong for over a year now with no issues at all.

Honestly used to think those cheap third-party seals were a total waste of money. Figured a gasket was a gasket, you know? Then I bought one that failed after just a few uses and it completely changed my mind. Now I just get the official replacement from the pressure cooker company, even if it costs a few bucks more. It's annoying to wait for shipping, but the one I have now has lasted years.
