The cashier at WinCo in Boise told me her family eats on $50 a week and now I feel like I've been throwing money away
I was bagging my own groceries at the WinCo on Fairview two days ago and the cashier saw my $18 rotisserie chicken, and she told me her family of four eats for $50 a week by buying dried beans in bulk and whatever meat is marked down at 6am. I've been spending about $140 a week for just me and my dog, so I went home and made a big pot of pinto beans with a ham hock that cost $3.50 and it fed me for four dinners. Does anyone else shop the early morning markdowns at WinCo or am I about to start setting an alarm for a grocery store?

Ha! I used to roll my eyes at people who clipped coupons and hit the store at dawn. I figured saving a few bucks wasn't worth the hassle and I was too busy for all that. Then my hours got cut at work last year and I had to figure it out real quick. Now I'm at WinCo when the doors open and I grab whatever meat has the yellow sticker, and my grocery bill went from $160 to like $70 for two people. So yeah, set the alarm, it's not as crazy as it sounds.
