I finally walked into the Cedar Rapids house with the $18k price tag and the basement floor was soft as wet cardboard
The listing photos looked great for $18,000 so I drove out to look at this 1912 four square on a Tuesday morning. About ten steps into the basement my foot sank two inches into the floor joists and the whole corner smelled like a wet dog. How do you all spot rot before you even schedule a showing, is there a trick with a screwdriver or do you just bring a flashlight and crawl?
