Put a box fan in the basement of a 1908 four square to dry it out, wound up with a dust storm upstairs
Pulled the fan trick from a forum thread and ran it for 6 hours, and every bit of loose plaster dust from the joists got pushed straight up through the floor gaps into the living room in Des Moines. Learned that a cheap box fan needs a filter taped to the intake side, unless you enjoy dusting every single thing you own. What is your go to way to move air in an old damp basement without making the upstairs worse?
