Bought a "creosote buster" chemical stick at the supply house and it did nothing but cost me $32
Saw a box of those chemical chimney sticks at the counter in Springfield last month and the guy behind the register swore by them, so I grabbed one for a heavily glazed flue I was working on. Burned it exactly like the label said for 90 minutes, then brushed the same flue and the glaze laughed at me. Thirty-two bucks plus a wasted trip back out there to do it the old fashioned way with a rotary and a poly brush. The counter guy is a good dude, but I am not buying another one of those again. Any of you have a chemical product that earns its keep on hard glaze, or is it all elbow grease?
Ha, sounds like that stick did about as much as a scented candle would've. Thirty-two bucks to watch a flue shrug at you is a rough day, and then you gotta drag the rotary back out anyway. The only thing that thing busted was your wallet. I've never seen a chemical stick touch real glaze, it's all spin and brush work in my book.
