Forging my own scraper blades changed how I clean flues

I got into blacksmithing as a hobby last year. Decided to make my own chimney scraper blades from scrap metal. The difference is night and day. These blades bite into creosote like nothing else. Factory blades dull too fast. I shape each one by hand for a perfect fit. My cleanouts take half the time now. Trust me, DIY beats buying every time.

Honestly, that custom fit makes total sense for getting into the tough spots. Faithgonzalez is right about that bite being key. Tbh, handmade tools just work better for the real nasty jobs.

Shaping each blade by hand sounds like a ton of work, but I guess that's why betty_shah2 says the custom fit gets the tough spots.
