Found a 1920s chimney on a house tour in Galena and the crown was poured wrong, now I get why they call us
Went on a historic home tour in Galena, Illinois last weekend and spotted a brick stack from the sidewalk that looked off from 30 feet away. Got talking to the owner and sure enough, the crown was flat with no overhang, so water had been running down the brick for who knows how long and the mortar was shot about 8 courses down. Any of you ever knock on a stranger's door after a tour just to tell them their crown is bad?
Knocked on a door in Dubuque once for the same thing after my buddy swore the flashing was bad. Owner was actually happy about it, said nobody had ever pointed it out before.
