Guy at Old Brooklyn barber schooled me on why Detroit is cheaper for rent
I was getting a trim at that place on Lorain near West 25th and some guy next to me starts ranting about how his buddy pays $700 for a 2 bedroom in Detroit. He said Cleveland landlords are greedy because they know people will pay for the West Side Market vibe. I think he had a point though, my rent went up $150 last year for no reason. Anyone else notice west side prices getting out of hand?

Yeah but Detroit's a whole different beast though. $700 for a 2 bedroom probably means you're in a neighborhood where you wouldn't want to walk to the corner store at night. Cleveland's not cheap exactly but it's not that bad.

Wait, $700 for a 2 bedroom in Detroit? That's insane. I'm paying $1,100 for a one bedroom over in Ohio City and thought I was getting a deal. Dude's right though, the landlord knows we'll pay extra to walk to the West Side Market on Saturdays. My complex raised my parking fee $50 bucks this year too, just tacked it on with no warning.
