Unpopular take: the new bike lanes on Detroit Ave actually made traffic worse for everyone

I was stuck for 15 extra minutes at the Clifton intersection last Tuesday watching a single cyclist hold up six cars, and honestly I think the city could've done a better job planning those lanes instead of just painting them in overnight.

Read some city council notes online that said they only studied traffic counts during off-peak hours when they designed those lanes. No kidding. They basically looked at Sunday morning numbers and called it good. I timed it myself last week and the backup at Clifton during rush hour is legit 12 to 14 minutes worse than before they painted those lines in. They should have done actual peak-hour studies or at least added a left turn pocket for people turning onto Clifton instead of just making us all sit behind one guy on a bike.
