Just dropped $600 on a heat pump water heater for my garage

The install was a huge pain and cost way more than I planned, but my electric bill went down by $40 last month. I'm still not sure if the savings will ever catch up to what I paid upfront. Has anyone else done this and felt the same way?

Man, that payback period is a real gut check, huh?

Read an article that said the real savings kick in after about five years, especially if your old heater was really old and inefficient. They also mentioned factoring in any tax credits you might get, which can help a lot. Your $40 drop sounds pretty good for just one month.

Oh man, my buddy went through the same thing last year. He was grumbling about the cost for months, but now he's totally turned around because his summer bills are so much lower. It just takes a while to stop feeling the sting of that first bill.
