My street's quiet shift towards homegrown veggies

I've noticed a lot of people on my street planting veggies in their yards. It started with a few, but now many houses have tomatoes or squash growing. This small change cuts down on trips to the store and packaging waste. My family tried it too, and we saved money on groceries last summer. It feels good to know we're all doing a little bit to help the planet. Plus, the kids love picking fresh food right from the garden.

Started with just some herbs in pots on my back steps. Then I added a few tomato plants in some old buckets. They don't need much space and the harvest was surprising. We got so many tomatoes we ended up making sauce to freeze. It definitely trimmed our produce spending for a couple months.

Container gardening on the patio was a game changer. Cherry tomatoes and basil grew like crazy. Saved a bunch on grocery bills.
