Walked through a tool and die shop in Dayton, nearly lost it over their chip conveyor setup

Stopped by a family run shop to pick up a part and their chip auger was just dumping straight into a 55 gallon drum with no separator. Every few hours someone has to climb under there and dig out the stringers by hand, can't believe they haven't rigged a simple trough with a filter, has anyone else seen this kind of janky workaround that eats up half a shift?

Three weeks of coolant sitting in that drum before they caught it. Buddy showed me pics of the swarf cake stuck to the bottom. They run a CNC lathe all day, that's like ten pounds of stringers an hour. A guy there spends half his lunch break with a pry bar. It's not rocket science, just weld a mesh basket over the rim.
