Watched a coworker crash a $40k Haas last Tuesday
Guy named Dave forgot to check his work offset. Spindle slammed straight into the vise. Broke the tool holder and scored the table. He's been running mills for 7 years, how do you still make that mistake? Makes me double check my offsets twice now. Anyone else seen a rookie error from a veteran operator?

but heres what i want to know man, was dave the type to never check his offsets or did he just get lazy that one time? i worked with a guy who had 20 years in and hed still crash a machine maybe twice a year because he trusted his gut too much. like he knew the machine so well he thought he could skip the little stuff. was daves crash more about a bad habit or just a straight up brain fart?
