Pro tip: my grinder burr seized mid-bag on Sunday and I'm half convinced it was my own fault
So Sunday morning I'm halfway through a 12 oz bag of a nice medium roast from a local place here in Sacramento, and my hand grinder just locks up solid mid-crank, like the burr welded itself to the shaft. I'd been lazy and skipped brushing out the chute for probably three weeks, so now I'm stuck deciding between tearing it apart on the kitchen counter with a screwdriver and a YouTube video, or just tossing it and dropping $90 on a new one. I ended up soaking the burr in hot water and vinegar for 20 minutes, and it freed up, but now I swear the grind is more uneven than before. Here's my debate: some guys say you should fully disassemble and re-oil after any lockup, others say that's overkill and you'll strip the threads. I'm not sure which camp is right. What's the real move here, and has anyone had a grinder come back from a seize and still pull a decent shot?
