Pulled the trigger on a $200 trail camera, got 47 photos of one raccoon

Last month I set up a fancy Moultrie cam near a creek outside Flagstaff, hoping to catch deer or elk. Checked the card after two weeks and every single shot was the same fat raccoon doing laps at 2 AM. I get it, wildlife is unpredictable, but has anyone else had a camera that only proves one critter owns the whole woods?

Read somewhere that raccoons are basically the only animal that messes with trail cams on purpose. They see the IR glow and treat it like a nightclub. Your fat friend probably figured out the exact spot and now owns the real estate. Might help to move the cam higher or angle it down a creek bank, but even then I've had one curious fox ruin a whole week of footage. The weird part is sometimes you get zero animals for a month, then one opossum shows up 84 times. Trail cams are just expensive raccoon security systems, take it from someone who's learned the hard way.
