Was dead set against meal kit services until I tried one for a week

I spent years thinking meal kit boxes were just for rich people who can't chop an onion. My sister got me a 4-serving trial from HelloFresh for my birthday last month, and I actually cooked every meal without ordering takeout. The recipe cards were simple enough that I didn't screw up a single dish, which is rare for me. Has anyone else flipped their opinion on something like this after giving it a real shot?

My girlfriend meal-prepped the leftover sauces into a marinade that actually ruined our stir fry later.

My sister convinced me to try HelloFresh for a week too and I ended up with three meals I barely touched and a fridge full of half-used packets of weird sauces. That 4-serving trial cost her $60 after the discount expired, which is $15 per plate for chicken and rice I could have made in 20 minutes for $3. The recipe cards were fine but I still burned the garlic because the time estimates don't account for my slow chopping. Honestly, I think people who love these services just hate grocery shopping and have extra cash to burn. Did you actually save money versus takeout, or did it just feel better because you cooked something?
