A guy at the Pomona swap meet asked why my 340 Duster has a 4 speed, and his next question ruined me
I was showing my 1970 Duster at Pomona last month when an older guy walked up, looked underneath, and asked why I kept the 4 speed instead of dropping in a 727 like everyone else. I said it was numbers matching and he just nodded, then asked if I planned to drive it or display it. I said drive it, and he said matching numbers only matter to the next guy, not to you on a Sunday morning in the canyons. Now I can't stop looking at 5 speed kits and I'm honestly considering cutting the tunnel. Am I crazy for thinking about ditching the original trans in a numbers car?
