Bought a numbers matching '69 Camaro at Mecum Kissimmee last month and almost lost it to a title issue
I was at Mecum Kissimmee in January and dropped $48,500 on a numbers matching '69 Camaro RS. The seller had the title but the VIN on it didn't match the trim tag because the car had been retagged in the 80s. I didn't find out until my bank ran the paperwork two weeks later. I had to get a bonded title through the state which took another 60 days and cost me $600. Now I pay $25 for a VIN check before I even bid on anything. Has anyone else dealt with a retagged car at auction?
