Rant: I used to eyeball timing my '69 Chevelle with a vacuum gauge, now I pay $90 for a shop dyno
For 15 years I set the timing on my small block by ear with a $25 vacuum gauge, but last month I finally put it on a dyno in Tacoma and picked up 22 hp I never knew was hiding. Still not sure the seat-of-the-pants method was actually worse or if I just got lazy. Anyone else here gone back and forth on old school vs. paying for real numbers?
