A guy at my shop told me to stop bagging my comics and I laughed at him
He said the poly bags trap moisture and can actually damage the books over time. I thought he was nuts until I pulled out a 90s X-Men issue I had stored in a bag for 10 years. The spine was all warped and there was this weird sticky residue on the cover. Switched over to just boards and a box after that. Anyone else had old bags ruin a book?

Did I just find out my comic bags were basically tiny saunas for books?

Oh man, I feel this pain. I had a whole longbox of 90s Image comics that I bagged up fresh from the shop and forgot about for like 15 years. Pulled them out and they felt greasy and the paper was all wavy like it had been in a steam room. Guess my "mint condition" Spawn #1 is now just a sad, sticky reminder that I'm not a professional archivist, I'm just a guy who likes cardboard and plastic.
