I read Batman Year One in one sitting instead of spreading it out, and it hit way harder
For a while I was reading comics one issue a night before bed, and Year One took me like a week that way. Last month I sat down on a Sunday in my apartment in Sacramento and read the whole thing start to finish in about two hours. The Gordon storyline landed so much harder as one continuous thing, the pacing just built instead of getting chopped up. Does anyone else read trades all at once, or do you still do single issues?
My buddy did the exact opposite with Year One, read it one issue a night for like two weeks and kept texting me how confused he was about the timeline jumps. Then he binged the whole trade on a flight and said it finally clicked, the Gordon stuff especially. Something about reading it straight through makes the two storylines feel like one thing instead of two separate books. I still grab single issues when they come out but trades are a one sitting deal for me now.
