Overheard a cashier tell an old lady her coupon expired yesterday

Looks good to me" - that line right there is the kind of small grace we're losing everywhere. Cashiers used to do stuff like that all the time before every store started watching everything on cameras and scanning every tiny rule. Now you got self-checkouts yelling at you for putting your avocado wrong, but a human who just decides to be nice can make someone's morning better for 50 cents. It makes you wonder how many other little kindnesses we've traded for efficiency that doesn't even help anybody.

Same thing happened to me last week. Kid didn't care. Nice to see.

Just realized my neighbor's simple advice about light pollution was right

Had a buddy who swore by this exact thing. He lives in a town with streetlights every 50 feet and used to just give up on night photography altogether. One night he got annoyed enough to drag his tripod behind a neighbor's shed and suddenly got shots of the milky way he'd never seen from his backyard before. He told me that one light was blocking way more than he ever realized. So yeah, I think moving twenty feet can totally be the difference between a blank sky and a good photo.

Talked to a guy at the observatory who said stacking 30 frames is pointless if your tracking is even slightly off, and now I'm going back through all my old data feeling foolish.

@terryb11 same here, polar alignment was the game changer for me.

Guy at Best Buy told me to blow dust out of my PS4 with a leaf blower - actually worked

Wait you're serious? My buddy tried toothpaste on his PS4 once and it actually read discs again.
