That time a guy at my local shop corrected my reading order in front of everyone

I was at House of Heroes in Portland last Saturday picking up a stack of 90s X-Men issues. Some older guy behind me saw my haul and told me I was reading them in the wrong order. He pulled out his phone and showed me a release date list he keeps. Turns out I had skipped 12 issues that tie into the main story. It was embarrassing but now I check a reading guide every time I grab a run. Has anyone else had a stranger at a shop school them on continuity?

Ugh, I've been that guy before (except I was the one being corrected, not doing the correcting). I grabbed a pile of Daredevil issues from the 80s once and a kid working the counter just kinda winced and handed me the actual starting issue like I'd brought him a burnt offering or something. Now I basically treat every back issue bin like a minefield and always double check a wiki before I pick anything up.
