TIL some comic fans judge books by the first page in 10 seconds flat

I was at the shop on Wednesday and this guy next to me grabbed a new issue, read the first page, and put it back saying 'nope, too wordy.' It got me thinking about how much of our hobby is just first impressions. I timed myself when I got home and I do the same thing, I flip to the art, check one page of dialogue, and decide if I'm buying. Has anyone else noticed themselves doing this or am I just as bad as that guy?
