That Tuesday on the Sabine River when the suction hose let go at 40 feet
Last Tuesday we were doing a routine inspection on a dock piling near Port Arthur when my tender tapped three times on the line, and I looked up to see the suction hose had slipped its clamp and was whipping around about 10 feet above my head. I killed the pump and surfaced, and we spent the next two hours re-clamping everything with the spare stainless bands we keep in the truck, which is 40 minutes of dive time I will never get back. The weird part is the visibility was the best I have seen on that stretch all summer, maybe 6 feet, so I could actually watch the whole mess happen in slow motion. Anybody else had a clamp fail on an old hose and switch to a different style because of it?
