Went with a fiberglass hat over a steel one for a shallow harbor job and my neck thanked me
Last summer I had to pick between a steel pot and a fiberglass one for a 3 week job in the shallow harbor. I picked fiberglass since I was in and out of the water like 30 times a day. The lighter weight made a real difference on my neck after long days under the barge. One thing nobody warned me about was how much easier it scratches up on the dock. I lost maybe 2 years of life off it just from banging around. For deep work I'd probably still grab steel though. What are you guys running for shallow stuff where you're surfacing a lot?
