Warning: I thought those $12 silicone oven mitts were junk until a rush at my diner proved me wrong
I ran a tiny 28 seat diner in Boise and figured the cheap silicone mitts were a gimmick next to my heavy cloth ones, so they sat in a drawer for 6 months. During a Friday brunch rush I grabbed them out of panic to pull two sheet pans at 450 and my hands stayed cool while the cloth pair on the hook was already soaked and steaming. Now I keep 4 pairs within reach, but does anyone know if they hold up past a year of daily use or do they start to crack?
