Hot take: Seeing someone hog the priority seat when an older person boards is my daily moral test

This woman on my train always takes the priority seat and stares at her phone, even when elderly folks get on. She makes a point to avoid eye contact, pretending not to notice them standing. I want to say something, but calling her out feels like causing a scene in a packed car. It's a small thing that bugs me every morning, and I'm not sure staying quiet is the right call.

Ugh, that's the worst. I had this happen and just stood up myself and said to the older person, "Here, you can have my seat," real loud near the priority spot. It makes the point without a direct fight. The woman got all flustered and moved anyway.

Standing up and saying it loud really works. Another trick is to catch the bus driver's eye, they often handle it.

Offering your seat just to make a point feels like playing games to me, caleb826. That can blow up in your face if the person actually takes you up on it.
