Our town's lost and found used to be at the diner, now it's all online

lol i actually love checking those things out. always find a local handyman or see what garage sales are happening that weekend. it feels way more real than just searching stuff online. kind of a nice little snapshot of what's going on in the neighborhood.

I could only stare as a core shift turned our good cast into scrap

That's rough, but calling it all scrap might be jumping the gun. A core shift can wreck the main cavity but sometimes the gating system or other bits are still good. Salvaging those can at least save some time and material on the next pour. Seen it happen a few times where the panic makes people bin stuff that could've been used. Still a total reset though, which absolutely sucks.

Shoutout to my backwards dimension that made the contractor smile.

Oh man, my friend Lisa did that exact barista thing @sam_wood54 mentioned last week.

Nodding off during a bleach application changed my view on sleep

Ever think about how many jobs out there become straight up dangerous when you're tired? Like that bleach thing is scary, but what about operating machinery or driving a delivery truck on no sleep? Your reaction time goes to zero. I started setting a real bedtime alarm after reading stories about people making tiny mistakes with huge costs. What's the closest call you've had at work from being drained?
