Just bought a monthly bus pass and then my route got cancelled

I dropped $80 on a monthly pass for the 42 express bus in Austin, and 5 days later the city announced they're cancelling the route due to budget cuts. Now I'm stuck either taking a 45-minute detour on two local buses or eating the cost. Has anyone else fought the transit authority for a refund on an unused pass?

Oh man, I feel your pain, I bought a whole year pass right before a fare hike kicked in.

@janab82 Man, is a fare hike really THAT big of a deal? It's usually like a buck or two more. Unless you're commuting cross country every day, the difference is pretty tiny over a whole year. Maybe you just gotta eat that extra cost and move on.
