Why listening to the bus chatter beats my playlist
I know everyone loves to put on headphones and zone out during their commute. But I decided to stop doing that last month. Now I pay attention to the conversations and sounds around me on the bus. It has helped me notice small things, like the driver's daily greetings. I even started talking to a fellow commuter about the weather. This has my rides feeling shorter and more connected. So I disagree with the idea that you need music or podcasts to enjoy the trip.

jesse4's right, bus chatter makes the ride feel shorter.

That's a good point about the stories you hear. My route has a few regulars who chat, and it does make the time pass differently. It feels more like being part of the neighborhood.

I used to play loud music on my 45-minute bus ride every morning. I was sure the trip would be boring without it. Your post made me try paying attention, and now I hear talks that make the ride feel quicker. Just this week, I listened to an old man share stories about the city in the 80s, and it was really cool.
